B7 – The Lord Jesus Wants Me To Help Others To Know Him

“Go into all the  world and preach the gospel to every creature” Mark 16 vs. 15

Have you ever felt ashamed of one of your own family members or been embarrassed by one of your friends? Being embarrassed or ashamed is not a pleasant feeling particularly if it concerns those whom you love. It hurts us.

Let me ask you another question; are you ashamed of the Lord Jesus or His word the Bible? Perhaps you answered, “No! I love the Lord Jesus. I go to church every Sunday to learn about Him.” That is good. However, most people who go to church every Sunday are ashamed to tell others including their friends about the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord Jesus wants us all to help others to know Him. In this lesson, we will find out how we can tell others about the Lord Jesus.

We can tell others through our mouths

You can tell your friends at school, at home or at work personally. It may not be easy because they may laugh at you. Let us suppose your birthday was near and your parents had made preparations for the celebrations. Surely you must tell others especially your friends and invite them to the party. Likewise, we must tell our friend the Gospel of God.

We need to tell our friends that Jesus loves them and that He died to save them. This is the best news on earth! It is a wonder why we fail to proclaim this message to the entire world as often as possible. The truth is that we are embarrassed by the Gospel. We are afraid our friends may laugh at us or call us nick names.

It is a terrible thing for us to be ashamed of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus said in Mark 8 vs. 38, “For whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the Holy angels.”

We are going to suggest some ways through which you can help others to know about the Lord Jesus:

   –   Show them the lessons of the Bible to start with. Explain to them what they are about and how you have benefited from studying them.

   –   Invite them to attend Sunday school or to a Gospel meeting with you.

We can tell others through our actions

Did you know that your actions can help someone to know about the Lord Jesus Christ? If we are kind and helpful to other people they will notice that we love the Lord. They will believe it when we tell them that we love the Lord. Our actions will help speak for us. The Lord said, “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13 vs. 35.

It is very important to remember that Jesus wants us to be kind and loving to all people, not just to our friends. People are different. Some have been unfortunate in the society that they are poor. We need to love them. Some may not have the same intelligence as the average person. We need to love them. Others may be hard and difficult to love. We need to love them as well. Our actions communicate to other people who we are. The Bible says, “Even a child is known by his deeds, whether what he does is pure and right.” Proverbs 20 vs. 11. In other words, we must practice what we preach with our lips.

We can tell others through giving

There are many gifts we can offer to different people under different circumstances to show them that we care about them. We can offer gifts like toys to a child who does not feel well at the hospital. We may offer to help a senior citizen with their day to day chores. They will very much appreciate help of any kind ranging from keeping the kitchen tidy to doing some grocery shopping on their behalf.

We do however encourage that giving must be accompanied by a casual conversation about the Lord Jesus Christ and His work on the cross. We cannot absolutely substitute telling people about the Lord Jesus with gifts although gifts are commendable. We must tell them about the greatest gift ever given to mankind:

“The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6 vs. 23.

Most people will be glad to accept Christian charity but they are unwilling to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

We have now come to the end of Section B lessons. We trust that these lessons have been of great help to you in your spiritual life and that you will have a desire to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all your friends and family. Tell them how the Lord came to die for our sins on the cross and how we can be saved through accepting Him as our personal Savior. Start now!

Your memory verse for the day is:

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”

   Mark 16 vs. 15
